This is the triptych that won an award in Florence, Italy. It is made up of 3 panels each measuring 75 cm x 1.5 m. Each panel describes a different section of the western deserts of New South Wales in Australia not far from where I live. It is a beautiful but raw and difficult environment to live in, a place that has been ravaged by the recent 15 year drought and which shows the scars of earth raw and on the surface with no covering.
I am an Australian artist well known internationally as well as at home. In 2007 I won 5th prize for painting at the Florence Biennale, which was an amazing adventure for me. To travel to Italy and win an award as an artist, was a dream come true.
