Depiction of a Northeastern Pennsylvania burnt and burning coal culm dump. Actual red iron oxide and other pigment material from the burnt Marvine Colliery culm dump in North Scranton is used on this piece. This sculpture can be viewed in normal gallery lighting or in a dark area illuminated from the inside casting an eerie blue light as the actual burning culm dump produced at night while it was on fire within during the 1960’s in North Scranton.
Yanashot employs different combinations of materials and methods in his sculpture. He is a stone carver inspired by plant, human and animal forms.
