This is a sculpture of a Kukui nut. The Kukui tree is the state tree of Hawaii. Kukui nuts are also called “candlenuts” because of the high content of fat they burn like a candle.
Yanashot employs different combinations of materials and methods in his sculpture. He is a stone carver inspired by plant, human and animal forms.
